Belize, a nation once known as the British Honduras, may be the only country without a coastline on the North Pacific Ocean in Central America. However, this 22,966 sq km of land and water has a lot to offer. Belize can be found west of the Caribbean Sea in Central America just beside both Mexico and Guatemala. To be exact, Belize can be located 17’15 degrees north and 88’45 degrees west in the world map. Furthermore, Belize is a country blessed with 185 miles of barrier reef – the longest within the Western Hemisphere – along its coast that’s 386 km long. Aside from the barrier reef, this tropical country is known for its cays which are islands situated between its main lands and the barrier reef. It’s also famous for its abundance of coral islands. Since it’s a tropical country, Belize experiences the warmer climate from February through May and the rainy season all throughout May to November. All these and bountiful natural blessings such as water falls, rainforests, atolls, mangroves, lush forests, rivers, and caves have helped Belize gain world renown as a premiere tourist destination. Belize has in fact flourished economically mainly because of its attractions to tourists. A few of its premiere tourist’s spots are the Mayan Ruins and the Mountain Pine Ridge. Resorts have been established as well as venues for water sports and recreational activities like sailing, sea kayaking, scuba diving, fishing, and snorkeling. Not only do people find heaven in this perfect vacation destination but terrestrial, aerial and marine life have also found Belize the perfect habitat. If you have never visited Belize, you are truely missing an experience like no other.
