Belize is one of the favorite destinations for travelers, young and old alike. For the jetsetters, this place offers something exotic – a mixture of different people, languages, culture, and structures that oddly enough mix well and make Belize truly unique. The cuisine in Belize is a combination of influences from the UK, Mexico, US and the Caribbean itself. Traditionally, their meals are composed of rice and beans. They also include protein-rich foods such as chicken, fish, pork, and beef in their dishes. Vegetables grow in this region, too, and flavors come from plantain and coconut milk. Belize is home to over 270,000 people from different cultures and races, but the largest ethnic group is the Creoles. Travelers will find it easy to be understood as most people know the English language. In the northern as well as the western part of the country, Spanish is the most used language. The Creoles have their own dialect but they, too, can speak English. Since it is home to several different races, one can also find speakers of Mennonite German, Hindi, Chinese, Lebanese, Garifuna, and Arabic tongues here and there. Most of Belize’s people were baptized under the Roman Catholic rites – an influence of the Spanish culture. Roman Catholics are followed closely by Protestants from the British regions as the second largest religious group in the country. Belize also has an admixture of structures. Stone churches are an integral part of the Belizean landscape and they’re a manifestation of the Spanish influence. Modern structures from the British Caribbean influence are also a part of Belizean architecture. Belize is also very proud of the temples that were built long ago by the Mayans according to the movements of the heavenly bodies.
