Documentation Required to Open a Private Offshore Account 

You should expect that when opening a company account offshore, any reputable bank would require you to submit information for the signatory of the account.  (Not necessarily the owner of the account.)  To open a Panama bank account, you must provide the bank with 2 pieces of government issued picture id (usually a passport and drivers license).  If you will not be coming to Panama in person to open the account these two pieces of id must be notarized and apostilled.  Some countries like Canada, do not have an apostille process.  In these countries you must get your documents "Authenticated" at the Panama consulate after getting them notarized.

Bank Privacy Laws 

Panama banks will strongly protect any information you provide.  The government has created banks secrecy laws which provides harsh penalties (including jail time) for anyone who would violate the secrecy provisions, except when a client is under a criminal investigation in Panama.  In order for your bank secrecy rights to be lifted in Panama, a judge must be convinced that you have committed a crime under Panama law.  Laws in other countries are irrelevant to a Panama court, and will NOT cause your bank secrecy to be compromised.

Why do I need an IBC Company to Bank Offshore? 

If your goal is to bank privately offshore, a personal bank account is useless.  The reason is that incoming and outgoing wires, will have the account name listed.  If you open a personal bank account the account name is your name!  Bank wire information is a primary source of information for investigators and tax authorities.  A personal bank account offshore will only service as a red flag to any interested parties.  To avoid this problem we provide customers with a package that includes a Panama Corporation + Corporate Bank Account + Visa Debit Card.  The Visa Debit card has only the corporation name on it.  Your name does not appear on the card.
